French Elle - The Red Ladies - 1977
Shot by Duffy during his last year providing fashion for French ELLE in September 1977. Duffy shot the cover along with 18 pages of Prêt à Porter fashion.
Helmut Newton called Duffy when he saw this image and said that he thought that it was one of the best fashion photographs he had ever seen.
The description for this image in the article reads as follows: 'Red wins. Sophisticated sport. Left: coat-envelope on narrow pants in woolen cloth. Long mohair funnel neck sweater (Issey Miyaké) Brooch (Axis) Boots (Arche). Slim and feminine, in the center, an openwork silk stand-up blouse on a thin waist skirt, in Viyella. Small scalloped cardigan (Emmanuelle Kahnh at Daniel Ho). More classic, on the right, a wool sweater dress, with a routed collar, and her waistcoat (J. Jacobsen for Dorotheé Bis) Tights (Le Bourget) Shoes (Tilbury).'
