Celia Hammond is photographed at the end of the Vasari Corridor, which runs along the Ponte Vecchio and the riverbank connecting the Palazzo Vecchio with the Palazzo Pitti.
She began her modelling career in 1960 and quickly started working with the top photographers. Hammond became known for her classic beauty and versatility, making her a favourite on runways and in editorial spreads throughout the decade. By the late 1960s, her modelling career took a new direction as she began using her platform to challenge the use of fur in fashion.
